Jennifer considers herself a “recovering television news producer,” after spending nearly a decade in the profession before pursuing a career in library and information science.

She graduated from Oregon State University with a B.A. in New Media Communications in June 2008. Jennifer’s worked for KVAL-TV in Eugene, KATU-TV and KPTV Fox 12 Oregon in Portland and KOVR/KMAX-TV in Sacramento, California.

But years of working graveyard shifts combined with increasingly stressful newsroom environments led Jennifer to rekindle her love of libraries. She’s now seeking an MLS degree from Emporia State University through its distance education program in Portland, Oregon, with graduation anticipated in Summer of 2020.

Alyssa Collins

Alyssa Collins currently works at the Oregon State Archives in Salem, Oregon. Her educational background is in History and Anthropology. This love of history and research has led her to pursuing her degree at Emporia State University. Her dream job would in an archive or university/college library. Some of her fondest memories of school was spent working with the wonderful librarians and getting their opinions on other research methods.

When she isn’t working, Alyssa enjoys reading books, crocheting, cross-stitching, and watching movies. She is currently working on getting her Master degree in Library Science.

Amy Stewart is a Digital Resources Specialist for the Visual Resources Center at the Reed College Library. She received a BA in 2015 from Reed for Studio Art. Her library interests include art librarianship, digitization, and open access initiatives to support learning and creativity. When she’s not at the library, she is working on her art or swinging on an aerial silk.

Keegan is pursuing a Masters in Library Sciences and is a part of the Portland cohort. He intends to focus on Archival Studies so that he may work in a special collections center, a rare books center, or a historical society. He would also be very pleased to work at a public library in a community he loves.

He graduated from Oregon State University in 2016 with a BA in History. He believes this background will help him in his program, and in his professional goals. He is currently living and working in Bend, OR so that he is able to support his goals. He desires to be a librarian to educate all whom are willing to learn. 

When he is not focused on his studies, you can find him skiing, golfing, reading, hiking, or watching a good movie or TV show.

Lynne Halladay recently graduated from Truman State University with an undergraduate B.A. in English and a minor in Film Studies. She loves reading, especially YA Literature and Poetry. She has a passion for learning and is currently studying Spanish and HTML coding for fun. She is enrolled in the Portland, Oregon SLIM cohort program, which is through Emporia State University. Through this program, she hopes to someday work in a public library and to always continue learning.

Jonathan Ulrich grew up in Tualatin, Oregon. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon. He has a BA in Film from Portland State University. He currently interns at Clark College’s Cannell Library working at the reference desk and in technical services. He is pursuing a Master of Library Science at Emporia State University. His career goal is to become a librarian at a public or academic library.

Christopher has a BA in Fine Art and Art History, and an MFA in Film and Video Production. He is the co-founder of a small video collective, and is involved in a number of Portland, OR organizations working around low-income housing and LGBTQIA issues. He makes films, cares for animals, farms, and loves books. He believes that the world will only improve with free and easy access to information, and development of critical thinking skills. His research focus is in media archives, exploring how information, technology, and people interact, and how library professionals can use these intersections to cultivate positive change in the world.

Blake Kincaid

Blake currently lives in Portland, Oregon and works in Vancouver, Washington for the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District. He is the Staff Development Coordinator, which gives him the opportunity to interact with all the various departments of a public library system.

Blake has been working in public libraries since the early 1990s, with one year in the early 2000s working in an academic library. He loves the role of public libraries in society, and will be working on getting his masters degree in library science so he’s able to contribute at a higher level. His undergraduate degree is in computer science.

Forrest has an MA in English from Idaho State University. Currently, he teaches technical writing at Linn Benton Community College. He also enjoys building guitars, drawing comics, baking, skateboarding, and playing basketball, and having dance parties with his two young children. Forrest’s fields of study include early 20th-century comic strips, makerspaces, and theology.
