Haiku Hotties at LiveWire on April 29, 2011

SCALA will be the fabulous Haiku Hotties for the Live Wire radio show on Friday, April 29, 2011.  We will be representing Emporia State University and the Student Chapter of the American Library Association, while gathering up the haikus created by audience members. It is a great opportunity for SCALA to represent MLS students  and to speak about the importance of librarians and information specialists in the age of information.

It looks like it will be a fantastic evening with speaker/artist/feminist Susie Bright, writers Beth Lisick and Mike Sacks, poet Matthew Dickman, songwriter David Bazan, and musical guests Celilo.

The show is taped live at the Alberta Rose. Doors at 6:30, show at 7:30.

The show is broadcast on Saturday evenings: tune into OPB (91.5 in Portland, OR) at 7pm.

Sweet, Sweet Ethics

This promises to be an interesting event hosted by the Oregon chapter of SLA.

It’s time to talk ethics! To make this seemingly dry topic a bit sweeter, we’re serving it up with wine, chocolate, and baked treats. Light refreshments will be served, but do your mother a favor and have some dinner before you dig into dessert with us.

In between sips and nibbles, we’ll talk about the SLA Professional Ethics Guidelines that were finalized in November 2010 and how they apply to our lives as librarians/information professionals/humans.

Please RSVP no later than Monday, April 11 at 5pm. The details–

Location: Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt
1211 SW Fifth Avenue, Suite 1900
