We are hosting another Drink & Think Trivia! This time we’re
bringing you the Banned Books Week Edition! Our last fundraiser back
in April was very successful, with 600 books and $200 donated to the
Children’s Book Bank and Books to Prisoners!! This time, we are going
donate the proceeds to the Freedom to Read Foundation.
You can find the Facebook event page here:
If anyone wants to help us spread the word (which we would be thrilled
about!), please share our flyer! It can be printed or
shared digitally. You can also help by inviting people to the event

SCALA will be the fabulous Haiku Hotties for the Live Wire radio show on Friday, April 29, 2011. We will be representing Emporia State University and the Student Chapter of the American Library Association, while gathering up the haikus created by audience members. It is a great opportunity for SCALA to represent MLS students and to speak about the importance of librarians and information specialists in the age of information.
It looks like it will be a fantastic evening with speaker/artist/feminist Susie Bright, writers Beth Lisick and Mike Sacks, poet Matthew Dickman, songwriter David Bazan, and musical guests Celilo.
The show is taped live at the Alberta Rose. Doors at 6:30, show at 7:30.
The show is broadcast on Saturday evenings: tune into OPB (91.5 in Portland, OR) at 7pm.
